Bambi Simon, LNHA, CDP

Ravenna, Ohio (March 8, 2022)Coleman Adult Day Services recently welcomed Bambi Simon, LNHA, CDP as its new Chief Officer. Bambi has spent her career working with seniors in nursing homes, assisted living, and memory care facilities as well as being the Program Director at an adult day center.

She is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, a Certified Dementia Practitioner was a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, making her the ideal leader for Coleman’s Adult Day. Coleman Adult Day Services, located at 6695 N. Chestnut St., Ravenna, provides a medical model of daytime care for adults with dementia and Alzheimer’s in a safe, supportive, and socially stimulating setting. It also provides daytime care for a small number of adults with developmental disabilities.

Coleman President and CEO, Hattie Tracy, said “Bambi Simon has the expertise and experience we were seeking.  We are fortunate to have found such a wonderful, qualified individual for Chief Officer at Coleman Adult Day Services. Bambi’s uplifting attitude has truly become a light at the facility as she begins building on Adult Day’s long history of serving our seniors in our communities.”

“The clients here at Coleman Adult Day are absolutely delightful and the staff is excellent and really cares about them,” said Bambi. “I understand some families worry that having their loved one in a daytime program while they are away at work or running errands, might be confusing to the loved one. We work very hard to keep our clients engaged and active while they are here. They have the opportunity to socialize and play games, which is helpful in slowing the progression of their neurological disease. I am glad to be working for an organization and with other staff that have similar values as I do.”

Coleman Adult Day offers a free 4-hour trial, but it must be scheduled in advance to insure proper staffing. If you are interested in learning more, visit Coleman Adult Day Services or call 330-296-3214 to schedule a tour today.

Dear Friends of Coleman Adult Day,

Robert SteinheiserColeman Professional Services is pleased to wish Bob Steinheiser a rewarding retirement as he finishes his work as Chief Officer of Coleman’s Adult Day Services at the end of July. Adult Day Services was purposefully built for providing the best possible care to each of our clients. Our care policy is a unique Medical Model that features on-staff nursing services, on-site medical specialists, therapeutic diets, and more personalized planning and services. That’s the Coleman Medical Model. That’s what makes Coleman different. Bob has been at the helm of Adult Day for the past nine years, and he will be hard to replace.

Bob has led the organization with compassion and caring. He has called Adult Day the best job he ever had as a nurse. We will miss the amazing way he has supported seniors with Alzheimer’s and dementia and those with developmental disabilities. Bob will tell you he has thoroughly enjoyed giving our clients the opportunity to socialize, to take day trips and to engage with others. Adult Day has on-staff nursing services, medical specialists, therapeutic diets and more personalized planning and services. That’s what makes Coleman Adult Day different.

The pandemic was a huge challenge for Adult Day Services, forcing it to shut down on two separate occasions. Bob led the organization through all of it, including its latest reopening in early May of this year. Coleman Adult Day is a service provided by Coleman Professional Services, a nationally recognized non-profit provider of mental health, addiction, and rehabilitation services in the state of Ohio.

As we wish Bob well in his retirement, we are excited about the future for our adult day services and look forward to welcoming his successor to Coleman.

Sincerely,

Nelson W. Burns
President and CEO

A Message from Robert Steinheiser, Chief Officer of Coleman Adult Day Services:

To our beloved seniors and caregivers,

As you know, Coleman Adult Day Services was mandated to temporarily close our doors on March 18 of this year to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Although it’s been a long few months, we are thrilled to report that Coleman Adult Day has been given the green light to re-open, but at a very restricted level.

In an effort to keep our clients, their caregivers and our staff safe, we’ve implemented the following safety precautions:

For Our Staff & Facility

  • Staff must wear face coverings and maintain 6 feet apart whenever possible.
  • Daily temperature checks.
  • Added clearing and sanitization routines.
  • Our facility is allowed to have 5 clients plus one staff person per room.
  • We are using two rooms within our facility to service a total of 10 clients (for right now).
  • No outside visitors (ex: entertainers, instructors, ect.) – we miss you!

For Our Clients

  • Clients must wear face coverings and maintain 6 feet apart at all times to comply with social distancing.
  • Daily temperature checks.
  • New drop off procedures to reduce caregiver contact with other clients.

Modified Activities

  • Revised and re-designed indoor and outdoor group activities to keep our clients safe and engaged throughout the day.
    • We are fortunate that we have two televisions, cable and Internet access for each of our two rooms – this helps with programming!
  • No field trips at this time.

Once our caregivers are more comfortable with these procedures and as the spread of the virus slows, we plan to increase the number of clients to the acceptable limit. We are adding new clients daily and hope to see all your smiling faces again soon.

These past few months have been difficult – Coleman Adult Day is back and ready to serve our seniors and their caregivers!

Thank You For Your Continued Patience & Support,

Robert Steinheiser
Chief Officer, Coleman Adult Day Services
