Unpaid internships offer flexible hours and vary depending upon the site’s needs and the student’s internship requirements. The range of experiences interns receive may include:

  • Working directly with individuals with mental illness, senior citizens, or individuals with developmental disabilities in a group setting.
  • Executing creative, educational, and engaging programming designed to provide positive social role-modeling while supporting the recovery process.
  • Communicating client progress with treatment team members on treatment goals.

The minimum requirements for an internship are as follows:

  • Active student status in an accredited university or college studying related field.
  • Certain Clinical internships may require the students to have appropriate licensure/certification for billing purposes. 
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse clients and staff and maintain confidentiality.
  • Dependable with interest and commitment to serving others.
  • Formally apply and, if selected, interview.
  • If accepted, complete criminal background check (where applicable) and orientation/training.

If you’re interested in applying for an internship, note these important timelines.  To apply for:

  • Fall Semester placement, applications must be received between April and June.
  • Spring Semester placement, applications must be received between September and October.
  • Summer Semester placement, applications must be received between February and March.
