Canton, Ohio (June 28, 2018) Coleman Professional Services and Crisis Intervention and Recovery Center (CIRC) are pleased to announce their new collaboration in Stark County. Beginning July 1, 2018, CIRC will become a stand-alone nonprofit under Coleman. This change was initiated by the CIRC Board of Trustees with the support of StarkMHAR to ensure that CIRC’s clients continue to receive the high level of care that the professionals and staff at CIRC have been providing for many years.
“It is my belief that there are numerous benefits associated with this strategic business plan,” Jeff Allen, CIRC CEO stated. “This plan will allow for uninterrupted critical and quality services, a strengthened financial position, economies of scale, and staff retention, among other benefits.”
Ohio is changing the way behavioral healthcare providers are reimbursed for their low-income clients by requiring providers to move into Medicaid managed care. This change has been financially problematic for a number of behavioral healthcare agencies in Stark County, including CIRC.
Coleman’s President and CEO, Nelson Burns, said, “We look forward to helping CIRC deal with the many challenges it faces and to continue to serve the Stark County community. Coleman will work with the CIRC Board and the CIRC staff to complete this transition with little disruption to either client services or staff employment.”
As Stark County’s primary provider of crisis services, CIRC’s core services such as Crisis/Opiate Hotlines, Mobile Response and Crisis Stabilization Services (among others) will continue to be provided by CIRC under the Coleman umbrella. Other CIRC programs have been transitioned to other providers. Coleman provides behavioral health services, including psychiatry, counseling, case management, substance use disorder and peer support as well as employment services, residential service and social services at its primary Stark County location at 200 Tuscarawas Street W in Canton and 1410 W. State Street in Alliance. CIRC’s locations are 2421 13th Street NW and 832 McKinley Avenue NW in Canton.
Liaisons have been established to encourage swift coordination of communication and the best experience possible for those receiving services. Anyone concerned or unsure about the continuity of their care should call Gayle Stickley, Transition Liaison, at 330-452-9812.
CIRC has been serving Stark County since 1972 when operationalizing the county’s first Crisis Hotline. Six new lines of business have been added over the last several years. CIRC holds OhioMHAS certification and accreditation from The Joint Commission and American Association of Suicidology.
